The Alt are John Doyle, Nuala Kennedy and Eamon O’ Leary. While each player is a leading light of today’s folk scene; at its heart The Alt is a musical celebration of friendship and song.

The Irish Echo commented in 2014, on The Alt’s eponymous first album that ‘inspired song selection and thoughtful arrangements reveal the chemistry these top musicians share’.

Day is Come reignites that spark, as the trio interpret traditional songs through their unique collaborative prism. Recorded from afar during the lockdowns of our global pandemic, the album is somehow quieter and more haunting than the first, but also reaches further into the deep well of traditional poetry and song, drawing out themes and motifs both poignant and relevant.
